This chapter assesses the impact of health expenditures and better health status on potential growth and productivity. It presents some ‘thought experiments’ on the indexation of active life on longevity and impact of ageing on aggregate productivity. After analysing the impact of income growth on health spending, the chapter closes the loop by investigating the likely impacts of better health and longevity on economic growth.
