Aristotle, the commentators, and Abelard
Undue existential import was introduced by Aristotle's commentators (Apuleius, Ammonius, Boethius), who also introduced the Square notation. Horn's and Parsons’ claim that the O‐corner has traditionally been interpreted as not having existential import is shown to be false and logically untenable. The sound predicate logic sketched by Aristotle and elaborated by Abelard is discussed in detail.
