Afterword: Philosophical Analysis and Analytic Philosophy
This chapter describes the origin of the project, motivates the attempt to rejuvenate analytic philosophy's concern with meanings by adding pragmatism's consideration of use in the technically tractable form of analytic meaning-use analysis, and responds to various objections in principle to such an enterprise based on skepticism about the very idea of analytic philosophy. Good and bad senses of ‘metaphysics’ are distinguished. The relation of this enterprise to that of Making It Explicit is discussed.
