Russian aspect in terms of Reference time
This chapter develops a theory of (im)perfectivity based on the theory of reference time. It also describes the perfective and imperfective aspect. The empirical fact that this chapter relies on in creating the definitions of perfective and imperfective aspect in Russian is that perfective aspectual forms in the non-past tense cannot obtain the actual present interpretation. The theory of Russian aspect developed in Chapter 5 obtains this fact and clarifies the dependencies between tense and aspect, which is evident in the Russian system.
