The Aim and Approach of this Book
This chapter sets out the purpose of this book, which is to describe and analyse certain aspects of the administration of the European Union, and more specifically and intensively, the legal framework within which that administration operates. In essence, then, the work addresses the legal regulation of the administration of the EU. It doing so it recognizes a central scholarly objective of both administrative science and administrative law, namely the examination of multifarious approaches, techniques, and structures of public administration in order to systematize and assess the solutions they offer to political, social, and economic problems and, where appropriate, to compare their responses to common, or at least similar, subjects and issues. An overview of the subsequent chapters is also presented.
