Expression And Communication of Emotion in Music Performance
This chapter provides an up-to-date review of theory and research on how music performers express and communicate emotions to listeners through their performances. The main focus is on music-psychological studies of expression and perception of emotions in Western music performances. How a performer might contribute to the induction of felt emotions in listeners is also discussed.
