Tip: the Help pages are context-sensitive so that, for example, if you were looking at a book's table of contents page and clicked the Help button, you would have been taken straight to the Help section about full text content. We recommend that you set your screen resolution to 1024x768 pixels for the optimum display and use of Oxford Scholarship Online. However, 800x600 pixel resolution should be acceptable for most pages (with occasional horizontal scrolling).

Known browser-related issues

Netscape 4.7: When you hold the mouse over a link on the navigation bar the text in the tooltip is truncated.
- Internet Explorer 4.0: The cross-reference tool will not work automatically. You will need to fill in the script prompt box that appears when the tool is used.
Enabling cookies on your browser
Cookies are required by subscribers who have concurrent user licences of Oxford Scholarship Online in order to control concurrency-based access to the service. If you see a cookie-related error message when you try to log in to the Oxford Scholarship Online site, then you need to enable cookies and try again.
To configure some popular browsers to accept cookies:
Netscape 6: Select Edit from the menu bar in Netscape, and then choose Preferences, Privacy and Security, and then Cookies, and then check the box beside "enable all cookies".
Internet Explorer: IE5 Select Tools: Internet Options on the menu bar, then choose the Security tab and select the Custom level button and enable the cookie options; Other Select View from the menu bar in Internet Explorer, and then choose Internet Options, Advanced, and then check the box beside "always accept cookies".

Enabling JavaScript on your browser
Internet Explorer 5 or above with Microsoft Windows
You can check this by choosing Tools on the menu bar, then Internet Options. Click on the Security tab, then click the Custom Level button. Scroll down through the list of options until you reach the section in Scripting headed Active Scripting, and make sure that it is set to Enable. Click OK and then OK again.
Internet Explorer 4 with Microsoft Windows
Choose View from the menu bar and then Internet Options. Click on the Advanced tab and then scroll down until you find the Java VM section. Make sure Java JIT Compiler enabled is marked, and then click OK.
Internet Explorer 4 or above on Apple Macintosh
Choose Edit on the menu bar and click on Preferences. Click Java on the left side and select Enable Java on the right side. Click OK to close the window.
Netscape Navigator 4 or above (on Windows or Macintosh)
Choose Edit from the menu bar, and then Preferences. Click on the Advanced category on the left, and then look for the Enable JavaScript checkbox on the right. Make sure it's checked, then click OK to return.
