This chapter examines the breakdown of organised social capital in Sweden. The “Swedish model” which involved the close collaboration between major interest organisations and the state disappeared in the 1980s. It is argued that the demise of such organised social capital rendered the Swedish model obsolete and created problems for Swedish democracy.
