This chapter reexamines Schiller’s dispute with Kant in Anmut und Würde and the Ästhetische Briefe. It contends that its Kantian expositors, who have neglected crucial texts, have completely misunderstood the issues. Rather than seeing the main issue as one about the conditions of moral action, it is maintained as concerning the highest good. Keywords:virtue,
