Abstract: This chapter reexamines Schiller’s dispute with Kant in Anmut und Würde and the Ästhetische Briefe. It contends that its Kantian expositors, who have neglected crucial texts, have completely misunderstood the issues. Keywords: virtue, duty, grace, dignity, highest good, aesthetic character, duty from inclination, Kant,
