This essay reviews the book ‘Wise Choices, Apt Feelings: A Theory of Normative Judgement’ by Allan Gibbard. Gibbard presents an emotivist’s perspective on rationality. He argues that rationality is not a naturalistic property, neither simple nor complex. This conclusion provides no sense of mystery, since the overall tenor of the book is highly naturalistic.
