Abstract: Discusses the Galilean transformations, and the Newtonian conception of space, time, and motion, essentials for understanding the Lorentz transformations and Einstein's special theory of relativity. Discusses, with the aid of many diagrams, the properties of Minkowski space-time, such as the relativity of simultaneity, and concludes with some reflections on their philosophical significance.
