I lay out the argument of the book and point to Aristotle's focus on ethics of character and good living. I claim that Aristotelian character cannot be understood apart from a conception of practical reason and that the overall aim of the Nicomachean Ethics is to produce a practical theory that will be a guide for good living.
Keywords: Aristotle, character, eudaimonia, excellence, happiness, practical reason, virtue
