Abstract: When we appreciate the great value of life itself, of having opportunities to make significant choices, and of being of use (a value stressed in the New Testament), we can see that for God to allow evils of the limited kind that occur on earth is compatible with God's perfect goodness. On a Christian view, the point of this life is to form ourselves so as to be capable of enjoying the Beatific Vision of God in a life after death.
