Abstract: This chapter could function as an introduction to the current collection of Davidson's papers, in that it deals with the three types of knowledge the book is concerned with, namely knowledge of our own minds, knowledge of other minds, and knowledge of an external reality. Davidson's main aim is to sketch the project of examining the nature and status of each type of knowledge and the connections between them, and he hints at the answers he is about to give.
