A critique of Derrida's approach to language using ideas from Merleau–Ponty. Focuses on an extended reappraisal of the notion of différance, and stresses the continuity that exists between perception and our reading of texts and other symbolic formations. This continuity stabilizes presence and meaning, and is grounded on our existence as embodied beings. Keywords:Derrida,
