The causal theory of perception says we see things in virtue of the experiences they cause. This theory comports well with common sense and science. However, the theory has trouble explaining how we see black objects, shadows, and holes. They are not seen by virtue of the light they reflect into our eyes. This book is aimed at resolving the anomalies posed by dark things.
