Ruth Barcan Marcus
Expanding on scholarly work by M. Boudot, this paper indicates (1) what remains constant in the evolution of Russell's ontological views against which his later theories seem to be natural outcomes, (2) some criticisms of Russell's earlier views, which may have acted as catalyst for the change, and (3) some consequences the revised theory has for Russell's logic. It then comments on Russell's later views, which seem to prefigure contemporary theories of demonstratives and ordinary proper names.
Keywords: Boudot, demonstratives, identity, individuation, logical atomism, particulars, proper names, Ramsey, Russell, universals
