This chapter presents tables of data on Hungary and an account of its increased earnings distribution. It shows that the degree of earnings dispersion went through several cycles, with a widening of differentials registered during the economic reform period. The changes were, however, moderate compared with those after 1989 when there was a significant fall in the bottom decile relative to the median, and a large rise in the top decile, which formed part of a fanning out of the upper part of the distribution.
