Abstract: This chapter examines the changing economic fortunes of the USA, currently restored to its position of pre-eminence amongst the rich countries. It then considers the challenge posed to the economies of the most developed economies by the spectacular rise of China. Finally, the broader issues of international economic integration are analysed.
