Congratulations to Gillian Wood, joint-winner of Shakespeare's Globe Book Award for her book Shakespeare's Unreformed Fictions. The prize is awarded every two years to a monograph which has made an important contribution to the understanding of Shakespeare, his thearte, or his contemporaries.
Shakespeare's Unreformed Fictions examines the hold that Catholicism had over Shakespearean drama, even though it was outlawed during the time of the plays' production. Speaking about winning the prize, Gillian said: "It's a terrific honour to recieve an award from the Globe, an institution that does such a brilliant job of making Shakespeare accessible to a wide range of people... I'm thrilled to be able to present my work here."
