The Army in Cromwellian England

Congratulations to Henry Reece, former Chief Executive of Oxford University Press, who has won the sixth annual Samuel Pepys prize for his ground-breaking study, The Army in Cromwellian England, 1649-1660.

Chairman of Judges, Ann Sweeney, said of the work: "The judges were very impressed with Henry Reece's incisive and thoroughly researched analysis … His clear and readable book makes an important contribution to knowledge of the period."

In celebration of Reece's win, we have made the introductory chapter of The Army free until the 27th November. Happy reading!
